Privacy Policy

Who we are

Dobson Ranch Republicans is an informal club for residents of the Dobson Ranch Home Owner Association in Mesa Arizona USA.
Our website address is: http://www.drgop.com.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Our practice is to collect the least amount of personal data as possible about our visitors, but some data collection is necessary as described below.

Comments

We collect the data shown the Comments submission form. We also collect the commenter’s IP address and browser user agent string*, because these help with spam detection.

You must provide your email address when submitting a comment. When this is done, an anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service, from Automattic, to see if you are using it. See Automattic’s privacy policy for their details.

All comments must be approved by the site administrator to prevent spam. After approval and if you choose to add a picture to your profile, then that picture will be data we’ve collected and is visible to the public adjacent to your comments. That picture is also visible to the system administrator.

Media

Before uploading images to this website, PLEASE make sure you’ve removed any embedded location data (EXIF GPS). This is because visitors to the website can download your image and extract any location data from it. We have no way of preventing this if your location data was in your image.

Contact forms

When visitors subscribe to our mailing lists, we collect the data shown on the form. We also collect the subscriber’s IP address and browser user agent string*, because these help with spam detection.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you choose the logout option, the login cookies are removed immediately.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site occasionally include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). We will indicate when this is done. This embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you had directly visited that other website.

When you interact with that content, those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

For the purposes of measuring website usage and popularity of posts, our site may collect IP address, browser user agent, and information about how you came to our site (e.g. from a Facebook Link, from a search engine such as Google or DuckDuckGo, or direct navigation).

Who we share your data with

We do not sell or share our membership list. Period. Instead, we may occasionally foreword to you information from like-minded individuals and Republican Party representatives.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we store the personal information you provide in your user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their own information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Members cannot see each other’s personal information except what is visible in comments. Website administrators can also see and edit user information, so that we can provide assistance when you need it and so that we can delete rogue/spam users who create fake accounts. However, website administrators cannot see passwords.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Just email us and we’re happy to help.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

If you request a password reset, the IP address of the person who requested the reset will be collected and then included in the password reset email. This process is intended to be a benefit to you in case someone else was trying to reset your password.

Additional information

How we protect your data

This website uses strong SHA-2 and 2048-bit encryption for all Internet activity (browsing, commenting, etc.).

The site content uses hosting services from GoDaddy. They follow generally accepted standards to store and protect data both during transmission and once received and stored. We retain your data information only for as long as necessary to support your interactions with us (e.g. your account information to log into the member only area of this site) and thereafter for a variety of legitimate legal or business purposes. These might include retention periods:

  • mandated by law, contract or similar obligations applicable to our business operations;
  • for preserving, resolving, defending or enforcing our legal/contractual rights; or
  • needed to maintain adequate and accurate business and financial records.

What happens if a data breach is detected?

You will be notified immediately at the email address we have on file for you. We may also call you if we know your telephone number.

Is there any automated decision making and/or profiling with user data

No. None.
